Summer 2005

Dear friends,

This is my last news letter as vicar here.

Because my health is not great I am taking early retirement.

I have been in this area fourteen years and in the Helmingham Benefice for about five years.

You wil1 all be able to recall some very traumatic times in those years. This area is not immune from sadness or difficulty.

But you will also recall some very happy times.

The church is at its best in times of trouble or at moments of celebration. At least we do our best!

I thank you for your willingness to accept me as I endeavored to lead the Christian community in these villages. It has been a real privilege. Just think what it must be like to be welcomed into people's lives as they go through the highs and lows of life. There is no better job in the world.

And now I must leave.

I am sure you will welcome the new person, whether a man or woman. You will train him or her in the ways of these villages!

You will learn that his or her ways will be different from mine and rejoice in those differences as we all rejoice in the differences between ourselves and our families.

You will learn more of the faith and the ways of life from whoever follows  me.  I sincerely hope that the new vicar will be as happy as I have been.

Yours sincerely,

Graham Noble
